| July 11th......was able to sleep in until about 8. Danika and I decided to try napping about 10 but I just couldn't let go and sleep. Cody and Kayla got in from Mexico late last night, so I had to tell Cody last night, he was quite upset. But they came over today and talked about their vacation. Then Cody had homework to do. They got us pizza which was nice, but really D and I just wanted to be alone and they stayed until 9 opr 10. Adam, Deborah and Steve got in by 1ish and Db had had a great time
July 12th. Went to the noon service. Dont' remember much else about the day
July 13th. Got the house cleaned. Received flowers from Bev Michaelis (from Curves). So sweet!!! Perry and Bbra, and Dennis and Joan were arriving in the evening, so Perry suggested they all come here first before heading down south. Kacee made us a delicious taco soup, so that was nice to have. D and J ended up getting in late so they didn't stop by but we had a nice visit with P and B.
July 14th Stan arrived about 10:47 so I picked him up at the airport and headed down to Corvallis to be with everyone. We met at Tommy's and had lunch together. What a fun time we had! We all then went to Pattye's and hung together and talked. It's been 3 years since we were all together.
July 15th Stan, D & J, Pattye and Jerry, and G and I all met at the peacock for breakfast, which they have excellent breakfasts for cheap. HOwever, I ended up throwing up everything I ate. Dont' know what that was about. We met John Stone and Shannon at the church to go over the things we wanted to do for Dad's service. He had thought he'd always wanted an Eagles service, but since they hadn't said boo to him in the last 2 1/2 years we decided to do what we wanted. We asked everyone to wear orange/black. We then went backto Pattye's and went over our talks (i had said I would speak at this one, and so my sisters followed suit; we could not do it for our mom). We said they should not be too long.......... Arbys was having free sandwiches so we all went there for lunch, then went to our old grade school, which of course is not like it was when we grew up. I had the bright idea to go to our old house and see if we could get a photo of us sitting on the porch. Dennis went to the door and asked the owners, and they were gracious enough to allows us to tour the house!!! It was SO nice;Steve and I had seen it over 15 years ago and it looked pretty crappy, but boy they had fixed it up. It was just awesome, too cool for words. We all went back to Pattye's for a little bit, then decided to call it a night. Danika picked up Sonja, Belinda and Steven and got them to D & J's hotel, then she came to Suean's.
July 16th. A hot day ....Suean made us blueberry pancakes. Dad had asked for Adam, Sonja and Belinda to sing at his service, so amazingly Steve got the crew down here in time to do that. I had to run to Lebanon for Dad's viewing, I hadn't wanted to go that badly but I had his watch and glasses and I needed to get them on him before the rest of the family came. It was a nice time....I didn't want to leave. *sigh I came back, grabbed Adam and Steve and went to the church and the group practiceded and then my family went out to SHari's for lunch and we ran into Aunt Verna and Uncle Bob and gave them directions to the church. Stan had put together a 45 min music cd of songs we all had chosen, and NIck and Nate put together a video thingy of Dad's photos, so we had that going. Us siblings came in to the OSU fight song. Perry said, "The King of Pop has died,(michael Jackson) the King of Promotions (Billy Mays) has died and now the King of the Beavers has died." We all spoke, and unfornately Dennis spoke too long so Perry didn't really share what was on his heart. Then we had a beautiful flag ceremony......and we also had the Patriot Riders there in honor of Dad and his being in the service. John Stone took a myriad of family photos, then we all went to Tommy's for our 'wake'. We were unhappy that our aunts and uncles didn't make it, but it was a hot day. Steve took Sonja, Belinda and Steven to our house for the evening and then he took them to the airport Fri. What a great guy!!!!! Bbra's family had come down and were staying where P and B were so some of us got together and chatted. It wasn't my favorite....I wasn't drinking and Pattye and Krista got drunk.........not good. (Pattye's husband and she just celebrated 6 years of sobriety but had fallen off the wagen and Jerry had had another seizure.......so they should NOT be drinking)...anyway.....
July 11th I went to the Peacock with Stan and Pattye and Jerry for breakfast again, but didn't have the biscuits and gravy!!! We all then headed out to DAd's niche to place his ashes. We took his stepkids flower arrangement, it was beautiful and huge. We said a few words and then placed him there. Then we went up to Mom's niche for a few minutes. Pattye had Kim and Krista come over to go through Dad's stuff, and so I had a few minutes to myself, so I went to the bankand deposited the check we all got from Dad. We then went to the Depot for lunch which is a favorite of all, except Dad! We went over to P and B's again and went through cards and such and decided who was going to write which notes, then we played Dollars. Stan had dinner plans with his friends, Dennis and Joan left at 6 a.m. this samemorning, G decided to go home and so I went with the rest of the crew to dinner at Cascade Grill, and then back to Sueans. Bless her heart!!!!!
July 12th. We decided as a family to all go to the coast. We met, about 11:30 at Moe's Annex. I had Stan with me. We all did a little shopping, then headed for Beverly Beach. It wasn't too bad of a day, not horribly warm, but at least not too windy. I went in the ocean and tried to throw out the 'Perry duck" that Bbra had given Dad, but it kept coming back!!! Kim did her best to get any of the Edwards to talk and she played with Kaylee. Well all then cruised up to Depoe Bay and shopped a bit, and then headed to my house, altho the Edwards and Pattye headed home. We all wentto Mongolian for dinner. Stan spent the night and P and B got a hotel up here and stayed with Kand K of course.
July 13th K and K had to leave in the morning, so Perry took them..then came over here for a bit. Then I took Stan to the airport, then we had a quiet afternoon. But Cody andKayla wanted to bbq,so I invited P and B over...so we all had some time together. Deborah left Sat to be with her other grandmother until Monday night. It was kinda nice.
July 14th Monday...quiet morning, then I got Bbra; we ate lunch at Panini's and then went to "The Proposal". It was sooooo funny!!!!! Perry had managed to get a few days work in while he was out here, so we got them an extra couple of days.... Poor Eve had gotten a ticket so she was upset and didn't want to drive to class, so Danika drove her, then met Bbra, Perry and I back at the hotel where we were swimming. That felt so good!!!
July 15th. I picked Bbra up from the hotel at noon. We spent the day hanging out; I made meatloaf (kinda burned it, but it tasted ok) and baked potatos. We played dimes in the evening even though we were all sweating. And then P and B went to their hotel out by the airport, as they were leaving the next morning.
....and that's the saga of my Dad's passing and being with my sisters and brothers. What a sad fun time it was. I still can't believe I won't be seeing him again

| July 4th was a good day. It wasn't too hot, altho it was warm. We'd gone back and forth about going to the Tigard 4th of July show. Adam, Deborah and I went over initially, and Adam didn't want to stay for the display, but I wanted to and we'd spent a good amount of time wwaiting for this and that anyway. Danika came over and wanted to stay also. So we stayed and I was a little disappointed, the display didn't last very long. However, Deborah was quite tickled. We had 'fun' trying to catch up to Steve, who hadn't wanted to go but dropped us off and so had to try to connect and pick us up.....as in going against the flow of everyone trying to get OUT of there!
July 5th.....Pattye either called me or texted me that Dad had gotten sick the night before, so I was on notice. She was on a well deserved vacation. I called Dad about noonish and he said he was ok and doing laundry. About 3, Stan texted me that Dad said he wasn't feeling well. I called Park Place, where Dad was living and they had been checking on him, but I knew they had some new helpers so I wanted them to keep tabs. At 6 I got the call they were transporting him to the hospital. I packed my bags and went down to the ER. He again had a twisted bowel. This was the first time he had on a breathing mask as well. They wanted to do a colonscopy on him as usual, but also talked about having the surgery they have talked about. I talked with Pattye and ended up signing a form saying if they needed to, he would have the surgery after the colonoscopy. They did not take him until about 11:30 for the colonscopy.
July 6th. I went back to be with Dad. We talked to several family members and everyone said yes on the surgery, also the nurse at Park Place said it was a good idea. Dad called his friends at Park Place also, to let them know he was having surgery. Georgia came over also and we spent a lot of time together. They were giving Dad stuff to clean him out and it wasn't agreeing with him, so they discontinued it.
July 7th I had thought i"d sleep in, then I realized the doctor would want to talk to me after the surgery, so I got to the hospital by 8:30. The surgery went very well, but Dad had a breathing tube in and he did NOT like that at all. And it was in until about 1:30. They had his hands tied down, so I stayed with him and tried to make out what he needed, but of course he couldn't talk. And they had forgotten to hand him/us the nurse switch, so I was pressing on what i thought was the call light on the bed, but it wasn't even hooked up! He had some pain, and then wrote that his heart hurt, so they gave him some nitro through a patch. Finally he wrote sleep, and we said OF COURSE and he drifted off. I decided to go grab lunch and relax a bit, and when I got back, he was doing great. He was sitting up and watching baseball. So I left him in the late afternoon and traveled back home; Georgia was to be the person on call Wed and possibly Thursday.
July 8th. My Dad called Pattye @ 5 a.m. and me at 6 a.m.....through Park Place. I called him and he said "Bev, I'm a confused man. Am I going home today?" I told him no, he'd just had surgery. He had gotten confused because they were moving him out of ICU. Georgia got sick that day and so didn't visit him during the day, but I think she went up for a few minutes in the evening.
July 9th. I got another early morning call, about 8ish or so, saying Dad wasn't doing well. I had to make the calls to all the siblings and Pattye decided to come home from vacation. I waited for Deborah to get home from VBS, and then took off to Corvallis again. Us girls sat with Dad all day, he was on a breathing mask that helped him breath, but it was taxing him. The doctor talked about intubating him, but Dad had hated that. We girls decided to take a break to talk and I said it would be nice to do a conference call, and Pattye was able to get us the hookup, in the hospital. We called our brothers, and no one thought it was a good idea. Dennis, who is an EMT besides being a pastor, said they just dont' come back from that. I had been crying so I ended up with a good headache. We told the doctor no on the intubation, and she confirmed that with Dad, and so they moved him back out of ICU, which surprised us. Pattye said I could go, so I took two excedrin p.m. and went to SUeans and relaxed.
July 10th. The hospital called again early,....6 or 7, which they were supposed to call Pattye, but I was still first on the list. So I called Pattye and she and I got to the hospital about 8. We decided we needed to have Georgia there too. Pattye thought we were in for a long haul of days, so she suggested we take shifts. She took off for a couple of hours, andthen Danika textedme and said she wanted to come down and I said sure. So Danika arrived about 11:30.....Dad had pretty much been sleeping the whole morning, but occasionally would wake up and write a note.....at one point he wished for a typewriter because his writing was so bad! She woke him up to tell him she loved him, and he kissed her hand through his mask. The respiratory therapists had been coming in and checking on Dad and told us that we would have to make a decision some time.....to take Dad off the mask. We tried in the morning and he couldn't last a minute, so his point was, that he wasn't going to make it. They said they would give him special medication to ease his breathing, and took him off the mask, and he passed in about 15 minutes. It was very special being there....I wanted to stay. Georgia took right off, I called all the brothers and then Pattye and Jerry took off. The hospital said they would 'clean Dad up and then we could say our last goodbye. So Danika and I went to have a bite to eat and then came back. Dad was lying in bed, all nice and comfy looking and no tubes and smelling good. I could have stayed longer, but Danika didn't want to. I just wish we would have had a private room so it was about 3, we decided to make the trek home. I had called Suean, but she was at the church and I just wanted to be home. Steve, Adam and Deborah had gone to a couple of Mariner games that I was supposed to go to, so the house was quiet. Danika and I texted Eve and she came over and took such good care of us. We were a mess and didn't want to have to think or anything, and Eve made us a nice pasta dinner and cleaned up and we watched SYTYCD and D and I both crashed a little after 9 p.m.
I will continue on another page....I'm afraid I"ll run out of room!
| Boy time flies!!!
I finished having to work last Wed, on the 24th. The district elementary secretaries went out to lunch on Tuesday so that was nice, and we worked hard to get all the report cards done and then we were done done done. Thursday I went and donated platelets, and then got things ready for Deborah to arrive. She came in at 10...well her plane was late, so it was closer to 10:30. She had on her Amish dress, which was actually rather cute, and her hair in braids, which she has not let Danika touch (meaning her hair is down and won't let D rebraid her hair). She's been in 'English' clothes and has been fine. Altho someone stole her suitcase with all her clothes. I wasn't expecting her to arrive with clothes anyway, but she did at least have underwear and a flannel (ugh!....too hot!) nightgown. Fri we went and got pedicures. She enjoyed that, and getting her feet put in wax.
She's been a little bit of a ....hmmm... don't know the word for it. She expects every day to be a 'fun' day. And I can't afford that! But I've taken her for lunch, and to the free movie, and to the free concert @ the library and to the library to sign up for summer reading. Today we got some lighter pj's...and she's earning money from Papa for fireworks...and one of the shirts I bought her came with a skateboard. It's tiny, so I don't think she can get too hurt on it. She really seems happy to be with her daddy. She enjoys her life on the farm, to be sure, but likes it here as well. And guess what, they are 'not going to be Amish' after all. I guess they are going to live in the community, but the community doesn't accept them (1/2 and 1/2) and so they are going to continue in Amish wear, but not all the stuff. Surprisingly enough (NOT), they have a laptop.
We had an interesting conversation about people and getting married and having babies etc. She was going to be a little judgemental towards one of my friends who got pregnant before she got married (gasp), and I pointed out that that is what her mom did. She said her mom and stepdad were 'married in the heart'. Oh brother. What a lot of nonsense.
Anyway we got a pool, it's not huge, but it's good enough. Yesterday Kacee and her brood came over and the kids all had a good time, altho i managed to get a sunburn. Not bad, but I shoulda known better. I bought sunscreen today. And it's supposed to get in the 90's. yippee. Not.
Watching So You Think You Can Dance, what a GREAT bunch of dancers they have. It's hard to see any of them go, each dance is so good!!!! Eve and I like the same guy.....I"m not sure about the girls...but I think I like Randi the best. But they are all awesome.
| Friday was a busy day at work, trying to tie up loose ends, as the teachers were still here. There was some fruha about teachers changing rooms (and not wanting to), but that is bascially resolved. I got off work at 1ish and ran errands, Steve was still getting a uhaul trailer (cheaper to get it in Oregon and haul it to and from Calif than to just rent one down there!). We got out of town by 2....and made such great progress, we actually were only about an hour away from Sac-town when we stopped for the night.
Sat we got to Adam's about 9:30. He wasn't finished packing, just all the little crap that you don't know what to do with. Fortunately two friends came over and between the 4 men, they were able to pack all his stuff in the trailer and our trail blazer. And also, fortunately, it wasn't hot. I vacuumed and one of the men had his kids there and they also helped carry stuff so it was good all around. But I was tired from going up and down stairs! We left about 1:30 and so of course decided to come straight on home. Adam still had a bit of stuff to clean up and keys to turn in, so he left about an hour after us, but managed to pass us.
Sunday we didn't make it to church, which we do really miss, but the Uhaul had to be unloaded and returned. Then we went to Mongolian for Father's Day. Since Cody had to work; he wanted to bbq, so I got the food and he cooked that evening. Then we watched the stupidest movie ever "Waiting"....that's two hours of my life I'll never get back. But my tendonitis keeps me from playing on the computer long and there wasn't anything else to do.
Mon and today, was spent working on report cards and getting rid of medications. The parents have to pick them up or we have to toss them. I still have about 5 or 6 inhalers. I hate to throw them away.
| So June 10th my friend from Texas arrived. i had set up to watch So you think you can Dance with Eve and Danika; Leslie and I had had a chance to visit some so she was ok with that and fell asleep on the couch while we watched! I took off the 11th and so we had time together, but for some reason, I felt sick and went to bed in the afternoon. I still haven't felt 100% since then, but not as bad as that. Fri she took off for another friend's house and it was kinda nice to have a quiet house, altho I went to drink night at one of our teacher's houses and stayed until 7:30! It was a nice evening out so we sat on the patio and ate and drank and talked.
Sat was Kayla's graduation. I dont' know for sure how many graduates they had, but it took 40 minutes just for the processional!!! We stayed through the speakers and until she went through (her school was the first school) and then took off, and still it was noon! But we had to get the house in order for their party Sat night. So people started arriving around 5 and we took off by about 5:30 for our hotel. It was a very nice room, and overlooked the lake and had a balcony. We just had a quiet evening together and it was nice, but the bed turned out being too hard for me and I ended up sleeping in a chair! We went to 'free' breakfast....cost us $20 since Steve's meal was not on the special menu (which they didn't tell us)....and then rushed to church. We went to have lunch with the Tabors and the Whites; Leslie's son Paul came in to Oregon that day and so everyone wanted to visit. Steve and I were still full from breakfast so we didn't eat, altho I did manage to eat tons of the 'extra' fries....Sun afternoon was again quiet as Leslie took Paul to visit other friends.
Mon I got my official notice of being rehired It was a busy busy day as Linda was off; we had two girls with lice so that was 'hairy' ...pun intended! Then that evening we had a bbq with the TAbors and Whites and played cards and all and stayed up too late.
Tues Leslie flew to Spokane so she was gone all day and Paul had a friend to visit so he didn't come home until 11:30...whoa! But we stayed up ..and they had to fly out at 7:16, meaning they'd have to leave the house by 5 a.m. and they were still fussing with luggage and all at midnight! Not my way of traveling!
Yesterday, I had one of my co-workers, a 'spedette', have a breakdown. She asked to talk to me, so I took her in the health room and made it private. She had gotten a bad evaluation and of course was upset about that, but more upset that her co-workers would not stand up for her. She felt completely betrayed. So I shared with her that I'd gone through hell the year before and so I did know how she felt. But I ended up sending her home, and i"mnot sure she'll even come back to work for us
Then I had bunco last night......it was a fun evening, but my tummy still isn't feeling well so I didn't eat the dinner there and one of my friends thought maybe I wa sick. LOL I guess I am a little. But i AM tired...I'll be so glad when this week is over. Today is our last day with kids. However, I take off tomorrow for California, to move Adam up here. That should be a fun weekend!!!
